Can a carrier of a staph infection reinfect my son who is MRSA colonized?

A friend of mine has been diagnosed with a staph infection (not MRSA). My son is a carrier of MRSA but not infected. Can exposure to my friend cause my son to have a MRSA flare-up?|||A different strain of staph infection would not likely cause MRSA to flare up - for the most part, having MRSA has no effect on exposure to other strains of staph. If anything, exposure to a different strain of staph has the possible (but unlikely) effect of displacing the MRSA strain with the new strain.
