How do I become a mail carrier in NJ?

I am interested in becoming a full time mail carrier in the South NJ area. From what I gather, a "Rural Carrier Associate" is just a temporary/sub carrier. Would I have to start as an RCA and hope they eventually offer me a full time position or is there another way of going about it? Also, how is the demand for carriers in this area?|||You will not be offered a full time position from temp or casual work. The Federal Government doesn't hire Full Time employees that way. All Postal employees have to take a test, and you have to score high on that test(470) and once you are called in for employment for letter carrier and pass screening, drug tests etc, then you will be offered full time employment. check "The Chief" newspaper for listings of when the 470 battery exam for letter carriers in NJ. You can also go to www.usps.com ,under the job section to see when the tests are out and apply online, I wish you the best
